HISTORY

Shuqualak Lumber was founded in 1948 by E.G. Flora, Richard Prince, and Charles H. Thomas. In 1969 William A. Thomas became President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Thomas holds those titles today. Over the years Shuqualak Lumber has grown from a small planer mill to become one of largest independent suppliers of Southern Yellow Pine in the Southeast. Today we operate three plants in Mississippi, a planer mill in Shuqualak, a sawmill outside of town and a chip mill in Dennis. We are proud that nearly six decades after its founding second, third and fourth generation descendants of the original founders still have a financial interest in the company.
